Remember when we crowned our fellow Rotarian George Otani, King George?  We honored him at Roland's house for his 50 years of perfect attendance.  We said goodbye to our dear friend on Sunday August 6th at his memorial service.  George was posthumously presented with an "Ingo" by Bishop Eric Matsumoto for 32 years of outstanding contribution to the Honpa Hongwanji.

TRIBUTE TO GEORGE OTANI by Gil Fujiyoshi

Nary to miss a beat,
George’s 50 years, an unblemished feat.
Crowned (April 2014) King George of WHR Club,
Toasted, roasted, and applauded from the membership hub.

Quiet and unassuming, George was at the club helm (1999-2000),
A recent post, International Director, and Kyoto kids exchange realm.

Richard Ing in 2010 needed a club secretary,
George quickly obliged as intermediary.
His key presidential project was Renton Road in Ewa Beach,
Where carpentry endeavors were within our reach.

Through Star Market, George donated turkeys to the less fortunate in Kalihi Valley,
Giving his gift of time, he could always be counted in the
community service tally.

George will be sorely missed. Fond ALOHA, George.
