CFS Project April 25, 2026

For our Rotarian At Work Day project, we chose to help Child & Family Services and the CFS Guild with installing planter boxes and a sand box for their clients. The CFS Guild is a dedicated volunteer group that supports Child & Family Service through fundraising, community engagement, and hands-on service projects that directly benefit the families we serve. For over 40 years, the Guild has been instrumental in enhancing our programs and facilities, embodying the spirit of collective action and demonstrating how community partnership strengthens our mission to support Hawai‘i's families.
 
Service Day highlights include:
  • Nearly 25 volunteers from CFS Guild and Rotary Club of West Honolulu
  • 3 hours of service per volunteer
  • Cleaned and weeded the front area
  • Added 450lbs of fresh soil and planted nearly three dozen plants
  • Built a sandbox for the children’s play area
  • Purchased books, seeds, and gardening supplies for future use

Child & Family Service (CFS) is a Hawaiʻi-born, impact-driven, community-based organization with a mission of strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children.  Their statewide community programs include preschool education, prevention of child abuse and neglect, programs for at-risk youth, domestic violence emergency services, therapeutic counseling, employment assistance, programs for elder care, and more.

Using core values of  HOPE (Humility, Ownership, Perseverance, & Engagement), they work with families to help them achieve their dreams including, financial independence, planning for a thriving future and caring for all generations of their ‘ohana. For the past 125 years, CFS has been one of Hawaiʻi’s largest nonprofits providing family-strengthening services from twinkle to wrinkle. Child & Family Service continues to lead the way in advocating for the well-being of keiki across Hawaiʻi. In FY25, 4,468 participants were connected to Child Welfare Services (CWS), representing 27% of those we serve, highlighting both the need in our communities and the vital role we play in meeting it.
