David is the lead attorney at the Law Office of David Hayakawa in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Hayakawa dedicates his practice to matters of criminal defense and family law restraining order cases. He serves clients throughout the State of Hawaii in all manner of criminal defense cases, including domestic violence, sex assault, felony and misdemeanor cases in both State and Federal Court. Mr. Hayakawa has served as lead counsel in well over 100 felony jury trials, many of those being sexual assault jury trials.

David Hayakawa is a graduate of the William Richardson School of Law and has been practicing in Honolulu since 1987, presently as the Law Office of David Hayakawa. David has been named to various “Best Lawyer Lists” for Criminal Law, including lists from Honolulu Magazine, Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers and The National Trial Lawyers. He started his career at the State of Hawaii Public Defenders Office until moving on to private practice, where he presently represents clients in state and federal criminal and traffic cases, restraining orders (TRO) and CPS cases. David has served as lead counsel in over 100 felony jury trials, including more than 25 sexual assault jury trials. David taught Criminal Law for seven years at the KCCC Legal Education Department/Para-Legal Program and continues to serve on their Advisory Board. David serves as Dean of the Hawaii State Bar Association Trial Academy and Co-Chair of the HSBA Professional Course for New Bar Admittees.
