Alicia Maluafiti is the founder and volunteer Board President of Poi Dogs & Popoki (PDP). She has been involved in animal rescue for 30 years, served as the Director the Community Relations at the Hawaiian Humane Society, and was the founder and President of the Oahu SPCA.

PDP operates the Big Fix, a mobile spay and neuter clinic which has sterilized almost 20,000 cats and dogs the past 6 years in rural and underserved communities on Oahu. PDP added a mobile wellness vehicle in 2017 to provide low cost veterinary services which offers free health check, vaccinations, screenings, and other non-emergency services for pet owners. PDP has received a $115,000 City grant in id to provide spay/neuter and wellness services to homeless pets of homeless people – especially those on the leeward coast.

Learn more about Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), the humane, compassionate and long term solution to Oahu’s feral cat population. On an island with no predators and a warm climate, one unsterilized cat can go into heat three times a year. She and her offspring will give birth to 400,000 kittens in 10 years. PDP provides the traps and tools to help caregivers TNR in their neighborhood for $5 per cat with a City grant that targets homeless pets and pets of the homeless including dogs. Get the facts about ferals cats and understand why Trap-and-Kill is a waste of time and money and has not worked after 40+ years.
