Update on Kyoto Student Exchange Youth visitation this summer month of the August. After being paused for 3 years, finally, we can resume the program. During the Kyoto 65th Anniversary Celebration in Mar 2023, they are really excited about the program and will send students to Honolulu this summer from August 4 through August 13. They will send 2 girls over. A sign up sheet for members' participation on the tours, and meals sent out via email to all on June 6. Please sign up to help hosting the girls in lunch, dinner, activities, your support is highly appreciated. They arrived on Aug 4, at 11:30 am, All Nippon Air NH186 and picked up by Elvira Lo and Terry Lo. Then Dim Sum Lunch followed, and then go to Derek's house to relax and dinner and firework at Waikiki Yacht Club hosted by Elvira. They will spend the next 10 days with our fellow members to experience the Hawaiian culture and customs. Depart on Aug 13, on NH183 at 11:30 am. Thank you to the members Derek Tenn, Grace Fujiyoshi, Roland Chun, Kevin Sakamoto, to host the lodging for the girls.

Plan to join the Aug 5 Saturday, welcome picnic event at Magic Island for the 2 visiting students. Derek Tenn is setting up the picnic,
Club Picnic on Saturday August 5th from 10:00 AM till 1:00 PM at the Magic Island Picnic Site (Ala Moana Beach Park). We have a permitted reserved area, section 35, as shown in the map below. This will be an excellent time to meet and get to know the two Kyoto West Youth Exchange Program Students (Momoka Kojima, Hana Fujita). These students expressed an interest in spending time and relaxing at the beach. It has been too long since we had an outdoor family event. There will be a volleyball net and a cornhole game. Please sign-up on this interactive real-time google sheet with what items you would like to bring. Everything will be potluck style but you may want to bring your own drinks. We will have a grille for those who want to cook food there. I hope all can make it!
