The speaker for May 6 is Hardy Spoehr, who will give us an update on the June 2nd Queen's Jubilee, A Day of Remembrance and Celebration. Hardy will talk about the historical relationships between our Hawaiian monarchies and the United Kingdom.

The WHR installation dinner will be on July 8, Friday, at Pacific Club at 5:30 pm, private room (the Card Room) Heavy Pupu Buffet, open bar, door prize, seats are limited, first come first serve, valet parking included. $70 per person, please Venmo Glenn Wachi or send a check to WHR, PO Box 171, Honolulu, HI 96810.

April is Maternal and Child Health Month

Rotary's theme for April is Maternal and Child Health. Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future. An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation — all of which can be prevented. Last year, the Rotary Foundation funded 129 global grants in this focus area in the amount of $8.4 million.
