Thank you to everyone that attended our club assembly at the Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant. Past President Wes Fong put together a special 9 course dinner that was delicious and served to us in our own private dining room. During the excitement of the evening, I failed to take a photo of our dinner event, my apology! This photo is our first meeting of the new Rotary year on 7/12/19 in which our Rotarians that attended the International Convention in Hamburg, Germany (Betty, Elvira, Naomi, Terry, Ron) shared about their experience.
We also recognized Treasurer Glenn Wachi for his retirement from First Hawaiian Bank with a cake, congratulations Glenn!
Below is a copy of the assembly agenda, along with notes that were contributed from Secretary Kristi Hirota-Schmidt. Be sure not to miss the next club assembly!
We have received an update from our sister club Makati West on their 50th anniversary celebration. If you're interested in attending, please inform International Service Co-Chair Glen Suzuki (email: gsuzuki1@yahoo.com). He will be the liaison between West Honolulu and Makati West. Thank you.
Mike Kato
President

Since Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative 30 years ago, the incidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000 cases a year to just 22 cases in 2017. To sustain this progress, and protect all children from polio, Rotary has committed to raising US$50 million per year in support of global polio eradication efforts. Without full funding and political commitment, this paralyzing disease could return to previously polio-free countries, putting children everywhere at risk.
Your donation helps Rotary and its partners reach every child with the polio vaccine. Thanks to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, your contribution will be tripled, getting us even closer to a polio-free world.
