Installation Dinner for WHR 6/27/2025

Hello WHR members, this year we will receive 2 students from Kyoto West Rotary, 1 boy and 1 girl, from 7/22 - 8/2/2025. This program have been going on for several decades.

Let's all work together to help to give the students a memorable visit to Honolulu. Terry will send a sign up sheet shortly after receive the students' application, and myself as the International Chair is already working with Kyoto West's International Sister Chair. I want to thank you in advance to Derek Tann, Stan Wong and Janis Chun who inform me that they can provide lodging during the visit. Mahalo for hosting.

Speaker for June 6, June 13 and June 20

June 6 Speaker, Delcy Saito is a retired DOE teacher. She is passionate about the ukulele and will share info about this iconic instrument. Hawaii Aloha will be led by her. A community minded person she makes weekly visits to care facilities Maunalani and Lunalilo Home and has the residents playing the ukulele with her.

PA’A is an acronym for Papakolea Anakala, Anakē. (Uncles and Aunties of Papakolea).
The word “PA’A itself is a hawaiian word meaning: solid, learned, firm and stubborn.
This group was formed to perpetuate music of my grandparents and parents era. Music crafted then was poetic, joyful and meaningful.

June 13 - Ululani Karen Victor, employed at UH College of Education. Presently co-president of Hawaii Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary educational organization. Well versed in Hawaiiana and has a good sense of humor. Topic: some aspect of Hawaiiana.

June 20 - Dexter Dai, DPT, a Physical Therapist and Clinical Director at OrthoSports Hawaii’s Kakaako.

WHR 75th Anniversary Celebration Oct 2025

WHR will be celebration the 75th Anniversary from Oct 16 - 18, 2025. The Welcome dinner is at Elks Club Lodge 616 W On the Beach in Waikiki, sponsor by Elvira Oct 17 starting at 5:00 pm. Buffet dinner.

Oct 18 Bishop Museum visit at 9 am. Follow by lunch, evening 75th Anniversary dinner at Ala Moana Hotel. The Event chair and committees are working very hard to craft a spectacular celebration for this milestone.

All members and families are invited to attend along with our 6 Sister Clubs' members and spouses, they are Tokyo West, Kyoto West, Taipei West, Hong Kong Island West, Makati West and Nagoya Airport.
