ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Our Holiday part on December 13, 5:00pm at Waialae Country Club was a huge success, have total of 50 people attended, a big Mahalo to Naomi and Stan taking reservation and payment, Music by Stan, Gwyneth Tann, Derek's daughter who played violin solo and Christmas songs all night. And Ceci and Melissa's games were so entertaining and fun.
We had a great turn out at Christmas Caroling at Arcadia on Dec 7th, 3-4pm our PP Doug Yee who have been a great support to the club in decades. Derek's daughter Gwyneth and President Stan played piano and violin , the members were all engaged to sing Christmas songs for almost half an hour, it's so great to see the support of our members great aloha spirit.
The last club meeting of the calendar year will be on Thursday, Dec 19, Noon (The Edge is not available on the 20th.) We hold our Club's Annual meeting to elect our board for 2025-2026. The meeting speaker is our own Cherie Martyn.
The next club assembly is on January 25 , 2025, Speakers will be the 3 kids that went to Student Exchange program in Kyoto this past July 2024. All member's children or grand children interested in participating in 2026 Kyoto youth exchange are invited.
5-7pm at One Ala Moana, 6th floor party room, 1555 Kapiolani Blvd. The 3 students who went to Kyoto will do their presentation on their experience. Spouses/partners are welcome. Wes says it is BYOB.
We will have a Pau Hana Fellowship will held at Waikiki Yacht Club on 19 Feb at 5 pm. $25 per person, heavy pupus, Kalua pig sliders, chicken wings.... corkage fee waived BYOB, all you can drink ice tea. RSVP by Feb 10, 2025 at Google link.
Next year is the year of the Snake, the Chinese New Years dinner will be on Feb 1, 5:30pm at Jade Dynasty, Private room. Guests welcome. $55

Patrick J. Foehr My name is Patrick J Foehr, but I go by PJ. I have been an educator for 35 years as a teacher, administrator and consultant in elementary and secondary schools, in private and public schools (mostly public), and worked with a variety of socio-economic levels and second language learners. I lived and taught in Saipan for two and one half years back in the 1990s. I currently work as the Deputy Director for the Hawaii State Public Charter School Commission. I I have three children ages 26, 24, and 22- Mikaela, Markus and Elle. I moved my family to Hawaii fifteen years ago and my children were blessed to grow up in such a beautiful place. MyWhy: Through interpersonal connection, create genuine and meaningful relationships that empower individuals to lead and act, using their uniqueness to influence those around them. EXPERIENCE Hawaii State Public Charter School Commission (October 2017- Present) Federal Programs manager-- School Lead Interim Deputy Director Deputy Director Weare the sole Charter School Authorizer in the state of Hawaii. Our portfolio consists of 38 schools across five islands. Our schools are Hawaiian culture focused (place based, language based, community based) and serve a variety of socioeconomic demographics providing instruction in diverse modes (project-based, traditional, virtual/blended, etc). Wereport to our Commissioners and execute the daily work of engaging schools in contract monitoring and compliance. ● Appointed Interim Deputy Director in February 2020; Prior to that, I led our Achievement Team which consisted of half of our office personnel; prior to that I worked directly with our schools receiving Federal dollars to support underserved students.
