Like in years past, WHR members have generously given of their time to serve as volunteer judges for the annual DOE Honolulu School District noncompetitive speech festival. Kids in grades 3 to 5 participate in various categories such as choral reading, poetry, interpretative reading, etc. This spring event will be held on Saturday, April 25, McKinley High, 7A (breakfast/instructions) to 10:30 followed by an awards ceremony.

Shimabukuro, Development Project Manager for Pacific Housing Assistance Corporation, is dedicated to developing affordable homes for seniors, low-income families, and those with special needs in Hawaiʻi. Commitment to its not-for-profit mission and deep local experience set Pacific Housing apart from others in the field.
Lacey is responsible for coordinating the development of affordable housing projects and related support services. She previously worked as a planner with PBR Hawaii then managed her family’s commercial and residential assets for 15 years. Lacey oversaw the design, financing, and renovation for the Waimalu Shopping Center in Aiea, Hawaii and the conversion of an office building to residential lofts in Downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota. Lacey holds a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Southern California and an Executive MBA from the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business.
