Kyoto students, Ai Kitayama and Ryota Morita, joining the Friday regular meeting.

A big thank you to Richard and Dana Ing for organizing and setting up the tent at Ala Moana Park, as well as picking up three main courses and a starch from Edge Café and bringing everything down to the beach park so everyone could enjoy the event on Saturday morning.

Special thanks also to Jeff Ventura and Derek for setting up the volleyball net for the students and members’ kids to enjoy a fun volleyball match!

Elvira and Terry picked up the 2 students on July 22, and hosted lunch at Legend Chinese Restaurant, then took Ai Kitayama to Stan Wong's house for lodging. Ryota Morita to Derek Tann's house for lodging.

A big mahalo to those who open their house to host the students during their visit.

Rotary Club of Kyoto West Rotary

From 7/22/25 – 8/2/25 Kyoto students, Ryota Morita and Ai Kitayama are here. Ryota will be with us for 12 days and Ai will be with us only until 7/28/25. For those of you who have children that will be eligible to participate in this exchange program in the future, now is a good time to get involved!!

We still need volunteers to help to host 1 student on Thursday July 31 for activities, if you have can help please call Terry Lo 808-258-8882 to sign up.

Speaker for August 1, 2025

Harry Hui will be the vocational speaker for Aug 1 meeting, Harry immigrated to Honolulu from Hong Kong at 11 years old. He grew up in Kaimuki, attended Kalani High School and graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa with bachelor and master degrees in engineering. He worked for the Navy and retired in 2024 after more than 40 years. He is married to Ms. Jacqueline (Jackie) Yeung with two children.

Can to the regular meeting and meet with Harry on Aug 1.

WHR 75th Anniversary Celebration Oct 2025

WHR will be celebration the 75th Anniversary from Oct 16 - 18, 2025. The Welcome dinner is at Elks Club Lodge 616 W On the Beach in Waikiki, sponsor by Elvira Oct 17 starting at 5:00 pm. Buffet dinner.

Oct 18 Bishop Museum visit at 9 am. Follow by lunch, evening 75th Anniversary dinner at Ala Moana Hotel. The Event chair and committees are working very hard to craft a spectacular celebration for this milestone.

All members and families are invited to attend along with our 6 Sister Clubs' members and spouses, they are Tokyo West, Kyoto West, Taipei West, Hong Kong Island West, Makati West and Nagoya Airport.
