On Friday, June 2nd, our speaker will be Janet Covington. Janet Covington, LMFT, LMHC, NCC Clinic Director Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Child & Family Service Janet Covington is the Clinic Director for the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Child & Family Service. The clinic officially opened September 8, 2020; she is a member of the opening team and is responsible for managing the fiscal, administrative, and clinical operations of the clinic. Covington possesses 15-years of clinical experience providing evidence-based treatment to individuals, couples, and families and over 25-years of supervisory, administrative, and managerial expertise working within non-profit and for-profit organizations. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Covington’s clinical background includes serving as the Psychological Health Coordinator with the Hawaii Army National Guard, the Joint Forces Support Assistance Program Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC), and as a MFLC assigned to active duty installations and to elementary and middle schools identified as having a large military student population. She was a Behavioral Health Specialist with the Department of Education at Leilehua High School in Wahiawa. Covington’s administrative experience includes working as the Development Director of the state’s largest animal welfare organization and as the Executive Director of the state’s largest multi-cultural festival. She served in leadership positions within the travel and marketing/public relations industries. Covington has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the Hawaiian Islands Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Hawaii Psychological Association. She resides in Wahiawa with her husband, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Her father is retired from the U.S. Army. |
